The Spirit of Australia

The Spirit of Australia is a wooden speed boat built in a Sydney backyard by Ken Warby. It is the fastest boat that broke and set the world water speed record on October 8, 1978. Warby drove the Spirit of Australia on the Tumut River near the Blowering Dam in Australia to a speed of 317.596mph and it was powered by a Westinghouse J34 jet engine.

Joey “Jaws” Chestnut is the fastest eater recognized by the International Federation of Competitive Eating after consuming 66 hotdogs in 12 minutes. On July 4, 2007, he won the 92nd Annual Nathan’s Hotdog Eating Contest beating six-time defending champion Takeru “Tsunami” Kobayashi.
