The Circus has always been a great past time ever since we were kids. Every show is different and its performances have always been very entertaining and fun to watch. One of the most interesting parts of the circus is the freak show which is an exhibition of biological rarities or the freaks of nature such as fire-eating and sword-swallowing acts or deformed people. Here are 15 of the world’s freakiest sideshow performers you probably didn’t know existed.

Schlitzie (The Last of the Aztecs)

Schlitzie was born as Simon Metz on September 10, 1890 in the Bronx. He was born like a normal baby boy but as he grew older, it became apparent that he suffered from microcephaly, a condition where the face grows normally but the head does not. Often times they are called “rat people” or “pinheads” and the condition always results in mental retardation and diminished brain capacity. He has a brain capacity of a 3-4 year old. In his career, he was employed to a lot of companies. He was billed as  “what is it?” “pinheads”, and “the last of the Aztecs”. In addition to sideshow work, he also made appearances in several movies such as the cult classic, Freaks.
