The Device to Root Out Evil church is an upside 5 metre tall church that was transferred from Vancouver to Calgary. The steeple, usually piercing the sky in its lunge toward heaven is now at ground level, pursuing the vigor, the demons of the deep. According to the artist, Dennis Oppenheim, the church becomes dynamic by cantilevering this meeting place into midair, thus projecting all occupants into a special no mans land where equilibrium is exchanged for the dynamics of pursuit.
