GULLFOSS
Gullfoss is the most famous waterfalls in Iceland and called the “Golden Falls”, because of its golden color which carries a lot of sediments coming from the glacial ice carved off the earth. Sigríður Tómasdóttir, the daughter of Tómas Tómasson, owned Gullfoss in the first half of the 20th century. She saved Gullfoss from foreign investors who wanted to build a hydroelectric powerplant that would have destroyed the falls by having a protest march, walking barefooted from Gullfoss to Reykjavik.
