Subterranean School
The Subterranean School or the Abo Elementary School is located in Artesia, New Mexico, United States. It is the first public school in the Unites States constructed entirely underground and equipped to function as an advanced fallout shelter. The school was designed at the height of the Cold War and completed in 1962. The school contain decontaminated showers, a morgue, generator and well and all the food and medications an underground shelter could need. Most of the students do not know that they were spending their days inside a bomb shelter because they thought that all underground schools were completely normal.
